Blog 5 - Free Topic

Hello, dear students. Hoping you are having a great weekend, today’s blog is free topic, so I will write about the novels that I have read this year so far. Kitchen , by Banana Yoshimoto, the stories of 2 different characters dealing with the death of a loved one are depicted in such a way that it actually makes you believe that you are seeing what’s going on. There aren’t any sudden plot twists nor villains but rather a gentle portrayal of what it feels like when only memories prevail through time   and yet, you must move on in life.   If you are looking for a somehow similar version of Wuthering Heights (one of the most successful novels from Emily Brönte), Fifty Words for Rain: A Novel will not let you down. Kyoto, 1948: Traditional customs, hierarchy, violence, family ties, exceptional moments for tenderness and love that will be a very short respite for the reader, deception and loyalty are clashed in this amazing novel by Asha Lemmie. Blog 4 - A Glimpse of the Past

Good afternoon, dear students. In today’s possible the most boring blog of my teaching history, I will teleport to several moments in the past since these periods could possibly answer many of my questions regarding how certain things were created. If you ask me, it would have never occurred to me that through blending, cutting, adapting certain materials by following mathematical calculations would lead me to resolve this problem. As a matter of fact, the first attempts of creating these paths were done in the Babylon civilization.    Old Stone Age (Paleolithic Age) In one of my favorite podcasts, one of the podcasters mentioned that “depending on the dose, everything can be poisonous”. It was r...

Blog 3 - My Dream Job

Imagen
Hello, dear students. Hoping you are enjoying yourselves this weekend; in today’s blog I will talk about my dream job. Despite the fact that I already enjoy teaching here at the University of Chile, I had considered the idea of going to other countries where teachers are actually fairly paid and with better working conditions. As I said before, one of my main dreams was to go to China because teachers are better paid there and being a teacher is considered an honorable profession. Since China provides many opportunities for English teachers in terms of workplace (you can teach at kindergarten, school, university level if you have the appropriate certificates), I would like to work at a university or a language academia.   For this, I surely will need to develop my soft skills in terms of effective communication with my students, colleagues, and administrative personnel. Also, I consider open-mindedness an essential skill since I will have to adapt to a whole new culture ...
